Today, I am assigned to find out the possible reasons of bridges collapse.
I asked them, "Were the collapsed bridges located in the frequently earthquake zones?
Cement concrete has no flexibility, when the earth crust movement might shaken the foundation of the pillars, cracks might be formed on the cement concrete. After many times of earthquakes, the bridge cement concrete would be torn apart. That is a logical thought."
The others, "Does it mean there should not have bridges built in the earthquake zone?"
I answered, "Suspension bridge is an alternative choice. Besides, for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge; the budget used to build a suspension bridge should be lower than the present one.
Anyway, for a location that has frequent typhoons and the seabed soil very loosely, a suspension bridge should be a better choice.
However, since we do have built a traditional bridge connecting Hong Kong,Zhuhai,Macao; let us build wind mills generates electricity in the bridge pillars."
